A Chinese company, Wuzheng Group Co. Ltd is set to establish an Agricultural Industrial Park at Yapei in the Central Gonja district of the Northern region.
The park, which would be christened the Ghana Wuzheng Agricultural Park (GWAP), will serve as an agricultural mechanization center to modernize agriculture in the district.
The 1041 acre park will comprise a training center, farming tools and equipment department, rice and maize farms, poultry farm among others.
After completion, the Central Gonja District will take responsibility of the project under the Northern Development Authority (NADA).
Explaining the project on Radio Tamale’s Absolute News, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Central Gonja, Mustapha Mahama said the establishment of the park is in line with the government’s industrialization agenda. He said the project would create jobs for the youth of the area.
“We are going to have a training centre in that place. Most of our farmers who are going to benefit from this are going to get the training and everything that they need to increase their production and for that matter increase their income. It’s going to provide a lot of jobs for the youth,” he stated.
The construction is expected to begin in April, 2018.
