A poultry farmer in Tamale, Issahaku Nashiru has called on the ministry of food and Agriculture to support farmers in guinea fowl production in the northern region to enhance the creation of more employment opportunities for the teaming youth.
” the lucrative nature of the guinea fowl business currently has force the teaming youth in Tamale to constantly demand for the construction of incubators to hast the birds for commercial purposes the central government must invest huge sums of money into guinea fowls production to boost his flagship program on rearing for food and jobs”, he stated.
He stated that there was currently a deficit in supply of the product to supplement the high demand for guinea fowls in the country, sadly governmental support to the sector was minimal.
An emotional Nashiru Issahaku, expressed regrets that SADA guinea fowl production initiative could have been a game changer in creating employment and income opportunities for the youth, poor implementation and managerial inefficiencies hindered its progress.
“The Savannah Accelerated Development Authority SADA guinea fowl initiative that was implemented by the else while John Mahama administration was the best of all but was in the hands of people, Mr. Issahaku further stated.
He thus appealed to for increased support to enhance the potentials of the sector.
